Ogilvy & Mather storm another awards show

Ogilvy & Mather continued its seemingly unending winning streak on Wednesday night (December 10) when they took home a total of 31 awards at Campaign Asia's “Agency Network of the Year Awards.” The gala dinner, which took place at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore, saw Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific trump runners-up TBWA for the Network of the Year award, and take home numerous specific people and team awards. WPP's Geometry Global also took home the Specialist Network of the Year award.

According to Atifa Hargrave-Silk, brand director for Campaign Asia-Pacific, “For more than 20 years, the Agency of the Year awards have celebrated the achievements of the region’s advertising industry, recognising strong leadership, creativity and innovation, stellar new business performance, the development of talent in the region, and contribution to the industry.”

In order to qualify for the awards, agencies must have received at least three awards (Gold, Silver or Bronze) in a minimum of two regions in the Regional Agency of the Year awards. The judging panel comprised senior marketers from key business categories and Campaign’s editors, including Mastercard SVP Sam Pemberton Ahmed, General Motors MD Mark Harland and miss Silk herself. Pricewaterhouse Coopers Limited (PwC HK), compiled the results.

Of the 31 awards claimed by the network, eight each went to Greater China and South Asia agencies, and seven went to Southeast Asia, whilst Korea/Japan took two and Australia/New Zealand took one. People honoured at the event included O&M's Anthony Wong, who took Account Person of the Year, Benoit Wiesser, who was named Asia Pacific Planner of the Year, and Fiona Gordon, who won Southeast Asia Agency Head of the Year. Additionally, Adam O’Conor, Greg Carton, Natalie Lyall and Sarah Edwards received the inaugural Corporate Communications Team of the Year Award.
